September, 1: total undergraduate, part-time and post-graduate enrollment is 1600, the SOM employs 65 full-time professors; the Alumni Association numbers more than 2000 professionals. The School of Management has 24 partners among the leading European and US business schools and universities.

Introduction of Bologna model into the undergraduate and master’s degree programs.

Reorganization of SOM departmental structure.

SOM students won major professional competitions: the third place in the global E-Strat Challenge competition held by L’Oreal and the first place in the competition “Fancy – a city with no problems.”

Doctoral studies program for the following majors: “Economics and management in the national economy” and “Organization of production” opened.

The Research Institute of Management opened; the organizing director: Associate Professor A. Bukhvalov.

The SOM signed an agreement with 4 leading European business schools to launch the joint International Executive MBA program (taught entirely in English).

The Center of Executive Training Programs opened; the organizing director: associate professor T. Soltitskaya.

The SOM became an institutional member of American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

The SOM football team won the SPbSU championship for the first time.

January 25: 10th anniversary of the SOM. The total undergraduate, part-time and post-graduate enrollment was 1,300 (including more than 200 MBA students).

Number of full-time professors reached 60.

The SOM started publication of “Russian Management Journal” – the first all-Russia research journal in the field of general and strategic management.

SOM’s new classroom wing opened on July 2 (A. Schultz building, 3, Volkhovsky per.). Reconstruction of the building was carried out as a result of unprecedented for Russia international fund-raising campaign.

The Alumni Association was founded; V. Marov (MBA-1 graduate), General Manager of “OTIS-St. Petersburg” company became the first president of the Association.

The first graduation of the St. Petersburg State University MBA program (27 graduates).

The first issue of the research journal “Vestnik (Bulletin) of Saint-Petersburg State University, Management Series” was published.

The SOM organized the Doctoral Dissertation Committee.

The first graduation of Specialist in Public Administration Program (22 graduates).

The Master of International Business (MIB) Program (taught in English) was launched in consortium with 4 leading business schools of the Northern Europe. The program was carried out within the framework of ECTS standards.

The SOM joined the Russian Association of Business Education (RABE).

The first graduation of the Master’s Degree in Management Program (19 graduates).

The international program of management training for Northern European companies was successfully realized within the framework of NORLET project.

The SOM became an active participant of the Program on Training Managers and Executives for the Enterprises of National Economy of the Russian Federation (the Presidential Initiative program).

The Personnel Management, Strategic Management and Marketing Departments were created.

The Post-graduate Studies Program opened for the following majors: “Economics and management in the national economy” and “Organization of production”.

The following majors were created: “Organization management”, “Marketing”, “Personnel Management”.

The Master’s Degree in Management Program was created.

The first graduation of the Bachelor Degree in Management Program (27 graduates).

The Associate Professor V. Katkalo was elected the SOM Dean.

St. Petersburg city administration handed over a group of historical buildings (1-3, Volkhovsky per.) to St. Petersburg State University for end use.

The St. Petersburg State University Academic Board carried a resolution to rename the University department “School of Management” into the Management Faculty.

The Theory of Finance Department was created.
1995

The first graduations of professional retraining degree program in management and public administration (53 graduates in total).

The Career Development Center was created.

Professional advanced training programs were created.

Public Administration Program started in cooperation with Stockholm University.

The first departments were created: the Management Theory Department and the Public Administration Department.
1993

The International Board of Advisors was created; John E. Pepper, Chairman and CEO, Procter & Gamble Company (currently retired), acts as the first Chairman.

September 1: The first class (33 students) of the Bachelor's Degree in Management Program began their studies. Six full-time professors and the first dean, Professor Yuri V. Pashkus, joined the SOM.

January 25: The rector signed an order to open the School of Management (SOM).
1992

November 4: Stanislav P. Mercuriev, Rector of SPbSU, signed an agreement to partner with the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley.

May 25: The Saint-Petersburg State University (SPbSU) Academic Board voted to create a new Faculty, the School of Management (SOM).
